CAMERON VU
Skills
As a result of my time spent at the University of Florida, as well as my cultural heritage and background, I have honed and acquired many skills that will help me in the future.
01
Research
As a Political Science Major, I have written several well-documented and extensively researched papers that cover an array of different topics. Some of these papers include:
- 17-page paper regarding women in Africa, in which the various causes of women in power are explained and deconstructed. Countries such as South Africa and Rwanda are delved deeper into, as their rates of women's representation are much higher than in other parts of the continent.
- Research paper examining the causes and effects of the "Brain Drain" in certain countries. Though development can be hindered in home countries as a result, there are also positive effects that come from this phenomenon.
02
Communication
Being part of many clubs and organizations, it is imperative that I learn how to effectively communicate with others and relay my ideas. As part of many research groups, I had to communicate with other group members to effectively use the time that had been set aside for meetings, research, project planning, and more. During my internship with Children Beyond Our Borders, I effectively delivered graphics and information that went out to target audiences, spreading the message that the organization was trying to put out. My intern duties included responding to emails, working with other interns, and delivering content in digestible formats.
03
Reliability
When something needs to be done, I make sure that it gets completed no matter what. One specific time included a group project that was nearing the deadline and only one of my other four members did their part. Knowing that it would affect all of our grades, I decided to take over and delegate the remaining tasks between me and my other groupmate. This ensured that we would get full credit, though the others didn't do their part.

In terms of general commitments, things will always get done. As a member of the UF Pre-Legal Honor Society, as well as the Multicultural Political Science Association, I have always done what is needed, whether it be member outreach of involvement.
04
Organization
Being organized is a necessary skill to be successful. Throughout my three years here, I have never submitted a late assignment in any class. As an intern, as well as a research partner, I have always had to be organized to meet my goals and deadlines. During Fall of 2023, I took 18 credits and achieved all A's in all of them. By managing my time wisely and prioritizing things like deadlines and time management, I was able to effectively manage my time and set my priorities straight.
